John Norman Collins--1970

For your convenience, I've linked the news segments together in this post.

  1. I was a student at EMU at the time John Norman Collins was a student there. He was in many of my classes since my major was elementary education. He appeared to be quiet, but a clean cut all American guy. I never feared him at the time. Now, I realized how easily one can be deceived. I accepted a ride home with him one day and for some unknown reason I was spared. (I have always felt that God has a reason for me being spared). However; I digress. The day Karen Sue Bieneman disappeared , I was in a night class which JNC was enrolled. The Prof. told us that he was dismissing the class early because another girl had disappeared. I have always wondered if JNC was in class that night or not. In hindsight, I would have loved to turn around to see if he was there. As I said before, never would I have any inkling he was the killer, but to this day I am EXTREMELY cautious of people no matter how "normal" they look. I was extremely protective of my children as they were growing up. I know that going through this horrific time in college had great bearing on how I lived my life.

  2. I was 10 years old when killings began. My mother was very protective of us. I remember being afraid. I have read the book.

  3. My mother in law was friends with Dawn's family. Dawn babysat her a few times. She was a sweet young girl.
